Cocker Concepts’ “Combat Shotgun” course blends modern American training with real-world scenario work to make students confident, competent, and safe with both pump‑action or semi‑automatic shotguns. You’ll learn reliable body mechanics, marksmanship fundamentals, speed and safety in reloads and malfunctions, and practical tactics for managing the shotgun’s limited magazine capacity. Our instruction emphasizes massively repeated, high-quality reps (we target the neural‑plasticity threshold — many hundreds of purposeful repetitions) so strong, reliable habits replace guesswork under stress.
Learning Objectives
By the course end, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate consistent, repeatable shotgun stance, mount, and follow‑through for both pump or semi‑auto platforms.
- Execute safe, efficient reloads and magazine/tube management under time and stress constraints.
- Recognize and manage common shotgun malfunctions (safe, instructor‑led practice).
- Integrate shotgun use into simple movement and cover/clearance scenarios while accounting for limited capacity.
- Make sound decision-making choices about when to reload, transition to secondary tools, or reposition.
Student gear (must bring):
- Serviceable pump or semi‑auto shotgun in good working order
- Sling
- Eye/ear protection, hat, shooting gloves as preferred
- Strong/weak side shotgun shell carriers, preferred spare ammo storage
- 500 shells of birdshot, 100 shells of buckshot (minimum)
- Appropriate range of attire
